Emotional Management (Tennis Edition)

Michael

Emotional resilience has been talked about in professional and everyday lives. Yet it's so hard to manage your emotions well, especially in this age of distractive social media and others. Here's a top 10 tennis player losing his cool in the 2024 Wimbledon, smashing his racquet repeatedly on his knee after he lost a point. He lost the match and had to bow out of this tournament.

Now here's a contrast: Roger Federer is probably the most beloved tennis icon all over the world, for his calmness. But that's what we know now. He used to be a "racquet throwing, swearing brat," as he would admit himself.

Let's see the most brutal loss for Federer, in my opinion, when he lost a razer-thin close match against Novak Djokovic. Federer almost claimed his 21st grand slam and 9th Wimbledon here. A gazillion tennis racquets could have been smashed, as it felt like someone just robbed him of one of the best titles to wrap up his illustrious career. But he kept his cool even though he didn't convert two championship points here (also check out 4:30:50 when Federer had a chance to earn another break point out of Djokovic at 30-30 at 10 games all in the fifth set, you could see his frustration on his face but he never lost it):

(Please do NOT share this with Roger himself. P.S. I still love him.)
